Hello everyone, my name is David Johnson, I am extremely honored to tell you a little bit about my dad, Wilbur Christman. Actually, he is my father-in-law, not to take anything away from my own father but, we had a much closer relationship than father-law, son-in-law.
Dad was born on March 26th, 1926 in the small town of Hadley, Missouri to Phillip and Grace. He was the last of four brothers and two sisters. Proceeding him were brothers: Orville Harold, Clarence Phillip, Lester Jeffery, Charles August, sisters: Anita Mary Grace and Thelma Sarah, wife Betty, and daughter Wilma. Dad passed away December 16, 2020 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dad, along with the rest of the family, lived on a two hundred acre dairy farm in Hadley, Missouri and moved to Boulder, Colorado when he was nine years old.
Dad met his wife of 55 years, Betty, in Boulder.
In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, dad had 94 of those, it's the life in your years. Dad had a very rich and fulfilling life raising a wonderful family with the love of his life, Betty.
Dad Joined the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, he didn't talk too much about his time in the army; however, he would tell me a story about some of his army buddies getting into some kind of trouble every now and then.
Dad went on to create and run his own construction company doing remodeling work.
After getting out of the construction business he bought and ran a video rental store near the Denver Tech Center. This is where Betty introduced me to my future father-in-law.
After retiring from the video store, my wife Betty and I would take Dad to the dog track in Commerce City. Dad would spend hours figuring track sheets to find our how the dogs were running.
Dad loved his wife and family more than anything in the world. He is survived by daughters and grandchildren: Tennie, Renee, Betty, Jennifer, Matt, Christy, Joanna, Will, Jason, Letitia, Melissa, Mason, Brian, Miranda, Braxton, Lauren and Lexi and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
