July 30, 1930 — April 14, 2024

MSgt Wilbur Vern Hosman (USAF Ret.), lovingly known as 'Wimp' and 'Hos', of Aurora, CO laid down his working tools on April 14, 2024, at the age of 93 with his beloved wife of 69 years Jean by his side.

Hos was born on July 30, 1930, in Modale, IA to Harry & Cecil Hosman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Lucille (Kenny) Pearce, Bernard (Mary Ellen), Vern (Margery), Fern (Al) Stone, Wanda (Gerald) Hodson, twin sister Wilma (Calvin) Bertelsen, and Phyllis (Lowell) Rupp.

On March 26, 1955, Hos and Jean were united in marriage in York, SC. Hos is survived by his wife Jean; children Carol, Steven (Tami), Lorraine (Ralph); and two grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) and Brayden (Morgan); and many nieces and nephews around the globe.

Hos joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950, and served at FE Warren AFB WY, South Ruislip Air Base England (where he met Jean), Sewart AFB TN, RAF Chelveston England, Dyess AFB TX, Andrews AFB MD, Nha Trang AB Vietnam, Rhein Main AB Germany and Lowry AFB CO, where he retired in 1976.

Hos enjoyed cruising to Alaska and any time he was surrounded by family and friends. He also played competitive softball for the Sewart AFB and Rhein Main AB teams. Together with his friends, Hos enjoyed league bowling. In May 2016, Hos traveled with 120 other veterans on the Northern Colorado Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Hos was a long-time member of Valley Lodge #232 A.F. & A.M. Hos will be remembered fondly as the salt of the earth.
