William "Bill" Robert Cayer of Commerce City, Colorado passed peacefully at the age of 75 after fighting a courageous battle against complications of a brain tumor. Born on November 26, 1943 in Fall River, MA, Bill was the oldest of three children of Bill and Anne Cayer.
Bill's proudest accomplishments are his family - his wife Eunice Cayer, daughter Michelle (Randy) MacLeod, son James (Kayla) Cayer and grandkids Dean, Mark, Tanner, Ryan, Josie, Aurora, Jared, Lauryn and Allan. He was dedicated to actively creating family memories. He loved to be outdoors, playing golf, skiing, hiking, biking, and camping. He also loved to square dance and travel. Bill was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed the Colorado Rockies.
Growing up in Colorado, Bill played football at Mapleton H.S., was part of the Color Guard, and participated in Boy Scouts and Explorers. He started working hard at a young age mowing lawns and taking on a paper route. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Travis Air Force base in California for 5 years. While on leave in 1963, he met his future wife and has been married to Eunice for over 54 years. After serving in the Air Force, Bill worked at Sundstrand and became a Millwright. This led him to managing the overhaul maintenance at the Dave Johnson Power Plant in Glenrock, Wyoming for 12 years. He worked 20 years in Apartment Maintenance in Colorado then retired in 2013.
Bill will be fondly remembered for his beautiful smile, his kindness, intelligence and generosity. He was community minded participating in the Eagle Creek Metro District Board for 6 years, donating blood to BonFils for 10 years plus, volunteering at the Democratic Party and always helping neighbors, friends and family.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William J Cayer and his mother, Anne Marie (Goos) Cayer. He is survived by and will be forever remembered by his wife, Eunice (Mayhew) Cayer; daughter, Michelle (Randy) MacLeod; son, James (Kayla) Cayer; grandkids, Dean Kilmer, Mark Shroyer, Tanner Hanson, Ryan, Josie, and Aurora MacLeod, Jared MacLeod, and Allan and Lauryn Tolbert; sister, Connie (Ron) Perrigo, and brother, Alan (Nancy) Cayer.
