William "Bill" Herzog, 70, of Denver, passed away May 11, 2016.
He was born August 22, 1945 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Martha (Terrey) Herzog. His family moved to Colorado in 1959. He was a graduate of Aurora Central High School. On September 4, 1965 he married Linda (Calerich) Herzog, of Denver, Colorado.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Herzog; son, Jeffery William (Sue) Herzog; daughter, Lisa Marie (Skip) Durbin; three grandchildren, Tyler Herzog, Tanner Herzog, and Tiana Hatten; two sisters, Sandra (Ed) Burke and Linda Jones; and brother, Terry (Maureen) Herzog. He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Sr. and Martha Herzog.
Bill purchased his father's business, Herzog's Heating Service in the mid 1970's and operated it both solely and with his brother, Terry for almost 30 years.
Bill was very active as a mentor in youth activities when his children were growing up, both as a soccer coach and most notably served as the first Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 750 for 9 years. Many lifelong friendships were made during his tenure. He was an avid outdoors-man and went on numerous camping, hunting and fishing trips. Fishing was his passion. He made hundreds of fishing lures and loved taking friends and relatives on his pontoon boat for many fishing expeditions. He enjoyed working with his hands and was always engaged in wood working projects, automobile repair and restoration and helping his friends and family with projects they had in progress.
Bill cherished the times spent with his grandchildren as they were growing up, attending and participating in many of their sports and activities. More recently, Bill's inner artist emerged and he painted over 60 watercolor paintings. Annually over the past 10 years, one or more of his paintings were selected to be auctioned at the Alzheimer's Association, Memories in the Making fund raiser auction.

When I'm Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
and I travel my last weary mile,
just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
and only remember the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
and remember I've had loads of fun.
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
and sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard
battles and won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day.
But in summer just gather some flowers
and remember the place where I lay,
and come in the shade of evening
when the sun paints the sky in the west.
Stand for a few moments beside me
and remember only my best.
