Xander Lee Shimamoto, 11, came into this world on March 29, 2006 in Pueblo, Colorado. He left surrounded by his family on December 28, 2017, from Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
He leaves behind his father, Weston Shimamoto; mother, Linzey Dilley; stepfather, LJ Vigil; brothers Xavier Dilley, Xack Vigil and Xayne Vigil; sister Alexys Vigil; paternal grandparents Ken and Marcia Shimamoto; maternal grandparents Kate McEwen and Alan Marquez, all of Monte Vista, Colorado; great-grandfather Jim Brazee of Lincoln, Nebraska; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Xander was a very gifted and intelligent young man who loved reading books, nerf-gun and basketball competitions with his big brother Xavier, playing his violin, hanging out with friends and family, playing baseball, swimming, riding his bike, assembling Legos, and playing Kingdom Hearts and other video games. He was currently attending Clayton Partnership School in Thornton where he lived with his father and brother Xavier. Xander loved animals (especially his grandparents' dog Cedar and hamsters Oreo and Kit Kat) and he wanted to be a veterinarian when he grew up. He looked forward to yearly attendance at Denver Comiccon with his dad and brother, going to Elitches, and playing Magic with his dad and Yu-Gi-Oh with his Uncle Tony Jacobus of Pueblo.
After being born in Pueblo, Xander lived there with his parents for several years prior to moving with his father and Xavier to the home of paternal grandparents in Monte Vista, Colorado. He also spent frequent time with his maternal grandparents while there. In 2015 Xander and Xavier moved with their father to Thornton, where Wes teaches at Mapleton Early College High School.
