Zach came into our lives on November 20, 1985. He touched our lives with his guitar playing, his love for life, and his unforgettable smile. Zach joined his grandfather, who was more like a father than a grandfather to him, in their last flight together on August 13.
He graduated from Accelerated Schools on June 5 of this past spring and was attending Colorado Christian University. Zach enjoyed his nineteen years that were filled with soccer games, trips around the world, fourteen years of guitar lessons, motorcycle rides, hunting, fishing, computer, video games, paint balling, jamming with Uncle Stevie, and his graduation gift - his pickup. His primary loves were his mother, Cheryl Kimbrel, his ten-year-old sister Holly, his grandmother Candy Gavit, his grandfather whom he joined in death, his dear friend and uncle, Stevie Gavit and his music. Zach loved his ten-year-old sister, Holly. Zach has been there for every moment of Holly's life. He was the first to hold her as she came into the world and was Holly's hero. Zach was Holly's best friend, tutor, #1 teaser, and the light of her life. Zach once said, "Holly, every time I call you "butt head", I'm really saying 'I love you'." So, they enjoyed light banter of calling each other names on a regular basis.
Zach has left behind so many people who loved him - his mother Cheryl Kimbrel, his precious sister Holly, his grandmother Candy Gavit, his uncle Stevie Gavit, his great-grandmother Mary Hautum, his mentor Ken Magid who joined him in death. Also, many cousins, aunts and uncles, and his best friend Christian Vasquesz will miss the laughter and joy that Zach brought into our lives.
