Eleanor Louise (Cross) Watson

Age 97. Born January 8, 1920. Died October 31, 2017. She resided in Fort Morgan from 1948 until 2000. She then moved to Denver, Colorado after her husband Alva Dale Watson passed away February 1999.

Eleanor was born in Lewis, Kansas her parents were Clarence Elmer Cross and Helen Gwendolyn Cross.

Eleanor and Alva had two daughters. Sharon Louise Watson Glatfelter married to Thomas A. Glatfelter and Linda Anne Thomas married to James A. Thomas. She had four grandchildren Heidi Anne (Glatfelter) Colbenson married to Anders Colbenson, Laura (Glatfelter) Garcia Hinojosa married to Francisco Garcia Hinojosa and Tommy Glatfelter married to Laci Glatfelter and James A. Thomas Jr., Linda's son; great-grandchildren Cody, Dylan and Tyler Colbenson (Heidi and Anders Children), Sebastian Garcia Hinojosa (Laura and Francisco's son); great-granddaughter Emma Mae (daughter of Tommy and Laci Glatfelter with another baby girl expected March 2018).

Eleanor served in WWII May 31, 1945 to July 24, 1946. Her basic training was at Hunter College, Bronx, New York. She was sent to Washington DC to work for the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts. She used a teletype machine sending and receiving coded messages. She lived in a barracks along the Potomac River.

After the war, Eleanor went to Walsh, Colorado. She met her husband Alva there. He was the nephew of the people she boarded with. Alva and Eleanor were married October 11,1948. They lived south of Fort Morgan on a dry land farm for over 35 years. They then moved to the edge of Fort Morgan City limits. Eleanor worked as a CNA at Valley View Villa Nursing Home for 24 years. She retired when she was 80 years young.

Eleanor retired January 2000. She moved to Denver and resided with Heidi and Anders for nine years. She then moved in with Tom and Sharon where she resided until her death.

Eleanor enjoyed attending the Columbine Baptist Church. She had a lot of friends. She was an avid reader for years. She always enjoyed seeing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Columbine Baptist Church.
